Two superb performances from the leads. Lahbib is riveting from the moment the truck driver picks her up in the pouring rain after almost running her down. She's running from something, towards a possibly final destination. We don't know precisely why and never learn exactly. Did she do something so ultimately appalling, or have it done to her? 25 March 2008 Simone is set to go in S5 of Wire in The Blood 4/6 Christa reports: On April 6th Simone Lahbib graces the TV sets of the USA once again in an all new season of Wire in the Blood, on BBC America (8pm et/pt). If you have never seen this show you're in for a real treat. It is one of the best written shows on Television in my opinion, and Robson Green and Simone Lahbib are fantastic in it. The police have been alerted and they are under suspicion. Asif, Shahid and Mushtaq grab suitcases, the computer, and a cardboard box containing bomb making equipment and bolt out the door. Shahid's getaway car is clamped so the three are forced to escape on foot from the pursuing police. Cornered, they dive into a restaurant on a busy city street. It is the Olympus Grill and dinner is being served to its well-heeled clientele. With the police outside, Asif, Shahid and Mushtaq have nowhere to go. Mushtaq, thinking quickly, declares that they will hold the restaurant goers hostage. The diners are forced to get up from their tables where they have been enjoying the delicious Greek cuisine. They are lined up against a wall. Electra, the young waitress, is also forced to stand in line. Her mother, who is the restaurant owner, comes out from the kitchen brandishing a rolling pin to find out what is going on. She is Penelope and a rather formidable woman. Penelope at first thinks the three boys want to steal money until they reveal their true intentions. Outside a sophisticated police/MI5 operation is underway to release the hostages. Leading the operation is Sofia Warburton, a 45 year old woman with a strong character, who has sacrificed domestic harmony for her career in the security services. Sofia begins to assemble data gleaned by the police and information from voice samples and fingerprints to create a profile of the hostage takers. She discovers that Shahid, from a single-parent family, grew up in a rough working class Birmingham council estate, and was a bad boy until he found religion. Asif got a double first in Natural Sciences at Cambridge. He was brought up by his widower father who was prone to beating his kids. Asif works at his father's wine warehouse and was a good taster until he took up Islam and. Mushtaq is the natural leader of the three and has a PhD in physics. The big fear is learning that the terrorists are in possession of red mercury which can be used to make a dirty bomb with the potential of unleashing untold damage and horror. The three youths have the knowledge and skills to make the bomb. Sofia checks the physics with her estranged husband Lindsey who confirms that it is possible. Time is of the essence. Meanwhile, inside the restaurant tension mounts as the hostages remain under threat of death from the three gun wielding terrorists. The hostages are: Sidney, a middle-aged American management consultant, Amanda, a 34 year old physiotherapist, Neil Ashton, a children's author and his wife Gerry, his daughter Jemma who is a nurse and his adopted mixed-race son Timothy; John, 45, head of a large chemical company and his mistress Janet. And strangely, as days go by and nerves are frayed, the barriers between the hostages and their captors begin to come down. "What Simone wants right now is for you to see her brother Stephen's band, Mama Mayhem, play at the Whiskey-a-Go-Go on L.A.'s Sunset Strip on November 8.... Unfortunately, Simone won't be able to provide that level of support to her brother next week. She says, “I'm gutted that I won't be there to see Mama Mayhem play their first gigs in the states and to go party with them after. These awards are nominated by the public (and voting has now closed). -- I don't know much about these awards so I went looking at Wikipedia for some info: The National Television Awards is a British television awards ceremony, sponsored by the ITV network and initiated in 1995. Although not widely held to be as prestigious as the British Academy Television Awards, the premier UK television acolades, the National Television Awards are probably the most prominent ceremony for which the results are voted on by the general public. Because of the way the awards are decided, winners are not given the title "Best", but rather "Most Popular". Welcome to A Bonny Lass - Simone Lahbib Site! Quite a few years ago, I sat down to record a new show for a friend which only resulted in me getting hooked. That show was called Xena Warrior Princess and it's stars Lucy Lawless and Renee O'Connor.  That was in 1996 and the birth of AUSXIP. In 2007 a friend wanted me to get a show for her with an actress I've never heard of before. I said fine, I can do that. It didn't occur to me that I would be interested in this show. That show was Wire In the Blood. She urged me to see it, imploring me to have a look at the actress who plays Alex Fielding. She is superb, a gifted actress. Well I relented. I watched the show. Something extraordinary happened. I got a severe case of deja vu - it was 1996 all over and I had been hooked on an actress by the name of Simone Lahbib. Simone is EXTRAORDINARY and one of the most gifted actors out there. She's gorgeous, has the cutest Scottish accent that reminds me of my favourite school teacher and talent that ooozes out. The person to thank for getting me hooked is my partner in crime, Christa. Christa would not give up on urging me to watch this amazing actress. Thanks mate, I owe ya <g> We are working together on this site to bring you all the latest news, magazine articles, images and anything else we can come up with. Speaking of Lucia Nobrega - a gifted Brazillian artist who I've known for eight years and a mischief maker extraordinaire! Lucia urged me to watch Bad Girls (TV show from the UK). You know boys and girls you would think that I should have been wary of friends urging me to watch other shows but nooooo that didn't happen. I was hooked on the whole show but the love story between Nikki and Helen (Simone Lahbib) was extraordinary. A slow burn of a love story that was just amazing. The more I saw of Simone, the more I wanted to dedicate a site for her. Watching Bad Girls on the back of Wire in the Blood tipped me over the edge. So in the tradition of giving in to your urgings, A Bonny Lass - The Simone Lahbib News and Multimedia Fan Site was born. I hope you all enjoy the site!
