Wire In The Blood Ratings Success

The fifth instalment of the popular crime franchise Wire In The Blood, premiered strongly for ITV1 United Kingdom on Wednesday 11th July at 9.00pm, delivering an outstanding 5.9 million viewers and a 26.9% market share. Competition on the night included BBC1’s Who Do You Think You Are?, BBC2’s Rome, Channel 4’s Big Brother and Collateral Damage on Five,

Produced by award-winning Coastal Productions and starring Robson Green (Rocket Man, Christmas Lights), the Wire In The Blood telemovies are self-contained stories based on characters created by award-winning author Val McDermid. The franchise currently consists of 19 telemovies with an additional USA telemovie due to start production in Texas next month.

In Wire In The Blood, Robson Green plays clinical psychologist Dr Tony Hill. Hill is intelligent and compassionate; he has a power of empathy beyond the established boundaries of his science, which enables him to put himself in the shoes of both murderer and victim. Passionate about his work, Tony is usually confined to researching convicted killers, but has become involved with the police trying to analyse some of their worst murder cases. Robson was joined in the fourth series by Simone Lahbib (Monarch Of The Glen, Bad Girls) as DI Alex Fielding.
