Star feared she'd never have kids

MONARCH Of The Glen star Simone Lahbib has told how she learned she was pregnant the day before her husband was due to take a fertility test. The former Bad Girls actress feared she would never become a mum after 23 months of marriage to Italian actor Raffaello Degruttola, 34, and no sign of a baby.

And when younger sister Sophie said she was expecting her seventh child, broody Simone, 39, considered adoption instead.

But now she and Saving Private Ryan star Raffaello, who tied the knot at Simone's local church - St Mary's in Stirling - in May 2003, are expecting their first child in SeptemberSimone, who plays feisty farmer Isobel Anderson in the hit BBC1 series, said: 'After two and a half years, I still wasn't pregnant and Raff booked himself in for a fertility test.

'The day before he was due at the clinic, I woke up feeling different.

'Then I realised I missed a period. I rushed to the chemists and bought a test.'

However, Simone couldn't understand the test results and rushed back to the chemist who told her she was pregnant.

Simone added: 'I ran out of the shop and phoned Raff. I screamed, 'We're having a baby'.

'He was ecstatic
